Atheism is on the rise and it appears as though even those at the top of the church are beginning to have doubts.
The Archbishop of Canterbury has admitted that he questions his belief in The (alleged) Man upstairs.
The Most Reverend Justin Welby said in a recent interview: ‘There are moments when you think, “Is there a God?”.’
He said that his moment of divine disintervention came while running with his dog, according to the Independent.
He said: ‘The other day I was praying over something as I was running and I ended up saying to God: ‘Look, this is all very well but isn’t it about time you did something – if you’re there?”.’
He did concede that his views would not necessarily be in keeping with what the Church of England was saying.
He mentioned Psalm 88 which is ‘full of doubt’.
He added: ‘It is not about feelings, it is about the fact that God is faithful and the extraordinary thing about being a Christian is that God is faithful when we are not.”
