Sixty-five students of Nnamdi Azikiwe Unversity, Awka,
have decided to part-ways with any form of cultism activities. The
students, both males and females, who belong to various cult groups on the
campus came out to renounce cultism when a visiting priest, Rev. Father Obinna
Obayi made an altar call during revival prayer session at the institution, The
Sun reports.
Professor Joseph Ahaneku, the institution vice
chancellor, said the revival prayer session was orgainsed in order to help some
students who had derailed from their primary responsibility as student to join
cult group.
Forty four students who were said to be members of secret
cults answered the call to renounce their during the prayer session..
The priest said that though some cultists had initially refused
to heed the altar call but they came on the power of God as they were seen
crying and rolling on the arena. This he said is enough testimony that no one
can hide from God
The vice chancellor later advised the repenting cultists to
shun cultism and face their studies.
Ahaneku warned non-repentant cultists in the
institution to surrender themselves to the school authority within seven days
or be ready the face disciplinary action.
Speaking further, the vice chancellor said that warning
became necessary because of other students of the institution who still
belonged to cult groups and were not at the session, who may think they had
gone scot free, saying the warning was to avail them time before a crack down
would begin
