Whitney Houston's mom is against Lifetime biopic

Whitney Houston's mom is against Lifetime biopic
Another member of the Houston family is not a fan of Lifetime's planned biopic of Whitney Houston.
The late singer's daughter, Bobbi Kristina, has criticized the project's director, Angela Bassett, and now Houston's mother Cissy is also taking a stand against it.

"Lifetime has chosen to go ahead with the movie about Whitney in spite of my family's objections. No one connected with this movie knew Whitney or anything about her relationship with Bobby," Cissy Houston told "Entertainment Tonight" in a statement. "In the two years since Whitney's death, many people have stepped forward to speak about their close relationship with her. I find it difficult to believe people who knew and supposedly loved her would participate in a movie about her done by folks who didn't know her. We are exhausted by the continuing misinformation and comments offered
by people who did not know her. Please please let her rest."
The project was announced in May with Bassett at the helm, and "America's Next Top Model" Yaya DaCosta cast as the legendary star.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bassett, who co-starred with Houston in the 1995 movie "Waiting To Exhale," was honest that she didn't keep in touch with Houston after the movie wrapped.
But, Bassett said, "I obviously had worked with Whitney and, you know, just fell in love with her as the rest of the world did. And when this opportunity was brought my way, it really was something I couldn't say no to. I felt that if I said no and let it pass, I could imagine having a great deal of regret, you know? I wanted to tell a story about a beautiful sista, which is of course an opportunity for me to grow as a woman and as an artist in many expected and unexpected ways."
When it comes to the lack of family involvement, Bassett said that she aimed to be as "respectful" as possible.
"Of course, we're very sensitive to whatever the relationships might be or what we have heard or what we perceive his relationship between her family and him," she said. "So we're trying to be respectful."
