The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) yesterday disclosed
that 26,391 people have been sacked from their homes in Bama, Borno
State, following Monday’s fierce battle between military forces and
Boko Haram insurgents.
The North-East Information Officer of the agency, Abdulkadir
Ibrahim, said though the displaced Bama residents were still fleeing to
Maiduguri, NEMA had so far placed 26,391 civilians in two Internally
Displaced Persons camps (IDPs) within the state capital.
Ibrahim added that the agency had started making arrangements to
ensure that the displaced persons were provided with adequate relief
materials.
