Nigerian soldiers have allegedly killed 16 people and abducted a Muslim religious leader in Yobe State.
AlJazeera reports that the troops rounded up the individuals, including the leader, as they concluded morning prayers at a Mosque located Dogo Tebo area of Potiskum in Yobe state.
Hospital staff and residents told reporters that the 16 men were found dead with gunshot wounds, and that the Muslim leader was missing.
Some community leaders say the men may have been killed because “all of them were from the Kanuri ethnic group that forms the bulk of Boko Haram’s membership.
