Charles Paul Ejekwu, the Caretaker Chairman of Port Harcourt
City Local Government Council in Rivers State, has been reportedly
dead.
The Nation reported that Charles collapsed after an overnight crucial
meeting alongside 22 other Rivers state Local Government Chairmen with
Governor Rotimi Amechi on Tuesday evening, 12th of August. He was
reported to have died at about 3 am in his house on Peter Odili Road,
Trans-Amadi Residential Layout in Port Harcourt.
Although his body has been taken to a morgue of an unidentified
hospital, the Press Secretary of the Port Harcourt City LG council,
Bolingo Elenwo, confirmed the tragedy, making it known that burial
arrangements were yet to be made, since the family members were yet to
meet and take decisions.
Elenwo described the death of the LG Boss as a shocking one as he was hale and healthy before his sudden death.
It would be recalled that the late LG boss was inaugurated about two
months ago, along with twenty other caretaker chairmen, excluding the
chairmen of Degema (Kalabari) and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGAs of Rivers
state, who are yet to serve out their tenure.
It would be recalled that just few hours ago, embattled
deputy governor of Enugu State, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, reportedly
slumped while testifying before the Impeachment Panel probing
allegations of misconduct leveled against him by the State House of
Assembly.
