PDP to Suspend Speaker Tambuwal over Romance with APC

Barring any change of mind, the leadership of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may at its 63rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled to hold tomorrow at its National Headquarters, Abuja suspend the speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Tambuwal.

Hon Tambuwal who represents Tambuwal federal constituency in the House of Representatives is among the members tagged rebels by the PDP leadership.
The speaker, according to a source, was also accused of shunning Sokoto PDP rally and the North West zonal rally held in Kaduna, where President Goodluck Jonathan was endorsed for a second term by the zone.
The speaker is said to be apprehensive of his party’s plan to pull the rug off his feet, and as such is making frantic effort to escape the hammer of the PDP by finalising his plan to dump the party ahead of the suspension.

Leadership exclusively gathered that Hon Tambawul who clinched the speakership position against the party zoning arrangement that was reserved for the Southwest has been working at cross purposes with the leadership of the party.

A dependable source at the party headquarters yesterday revealed to Leadership that Tambawul is facing an allegation of engaging in anti-party activities as his party has frowned at his continued romance with the main opposition, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his refusal to attend the previous NEC meeting and PDP zonal rallies.

The speaker, our check indicates, is set to declare for the APC, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Tambuwal’s rumoured presidential ambition for 2015 has pitched him against the presidency and the party. He maintained that such story is in the realm of speculation.
