Seven suspected ritualists were Tuesday afternoon, at about 1:00 pm, set ablaze in Naka, Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State.
A witness, Toryila Adamgbe, told PREMIUM TIMES on Wednesday via telephone that the suspected ritualists murdered a child of about 11 years after they failed to kill his uncle.
Mr. Adamgbe said the child was on Monday night shot in the head and died on the spot. According to source, the child’s uncle was not at home when the assassins arrived his house.

He said the suspected murderers were mobbed by angry youth who took laws into their hands, and burnt the suspects alive in three locations within Naka, headquarters of Gwer West Local Government.
Mr. Adamgbe said the youth who avenged the death of the 11 year old child said two of the suspected murderers were still at large.

It was gathered that some parents of the burnt men picked the remains of their children for burial; but the bodies of those burnt beyond recognition were left unclaimed till Wednesday morning.
According to other sources, the suspected gang of murderers has been a threat in Naka community, and were suspected to be among those committing most atrocities within the council area.
